The Super 64X is the best 16 hole chromatic. It is Gold and black (which rubs off) but has double thickness reed plates, which is particularly good for the top octave notes which play real sweet. Its about $700 and usually takes some time to get. We've only had 2 or 3 come from Germany this year.
The Super 64 is real nice too. Has silver mouth piece and cover plates (which are nicer) and is a step above the Larry Adler16 & Chromonica 64. I really like this harmonica. You could customise it by fitting super 64X reed plates later which fit.
Playing the bottom octave you just have to blow/draw a bit softer - to get a good response.
The other option is a CX12-Tenor C. Real nice harmonicas these. The slide is good and fast. The tenor is like a Low C - a step down from the normal C. So only a 12 hole, but very good instrument.
Or look at a 270/48 chromonica or CX12 in F or G (or D and E even...). If you haven't tried them, they are nice and low in tone, and top end notes play better than the C harps, as not as high. Gives you some other options for blues in other keys too.
I repaired a silver Concerto last year, and have done the Amadeus. I would not buy or play one. They are fancy, but the Super 64s and CX12s are the pro instruments.
