DooDaddie News  June 2015

Had a little look at FACEBOOK today  and it said you haven't posted for 53 days.

Well really !

I did not have much to post in the way of significant or interesting news - except for the usual cat observations such as here is my cat sharpening it's claws on my amplifier and being admonished from the home !

Then the postman delivered a DVD of our performance at the Borneo Jazz Festival back in May and I got to relive a great time watching the DooDaddies. The festival was sensational, with a great location, International bands , friendly and enthusiastic audience, superb stage crew ,super organised events manager and team. We also met a number of West Aussies there enjoying the party atmosphere.

The History of Blues and Jazz in Western Australia is the topic for a  book Warren Anderson is in the process of writing . Last week I had the pleasure of being interviewed. Hard to remember exact dates, even years but fun to talk about the sad , bad and good times of a blues bands history. I have had three Çross Eyed Cats, The Mighty Mudcats and Diamond Dave and the DooDaddies which we are now calling The DooDaddies for economy ! Maybe some pe

Bolgart is having a Blues Festival in October. Looks like the DooDaddies will be performing , along with a number of great local and interstate acts. Looking forward to another festival on the WA calendar. Check out the page   www.facebook.com/westozbluesfest

I have been listening to Eddie Cleanhead Vinson- Vocalist and Alto Sax player from the 40s with his terrific swinging band. Recently I really enjoyed playing harp with Eddie, Stevie Wonder and Kim Wilson all in my garage ( they don't know about this ! ) one rainy afternoon. Still loving the harp !

I look forward to catching up with Dave , Chob and John at our next gig on July 24 at the Hilton Park Bowling Club 8.30-11.30pm. Be great to see you there too!

Cheers, Dave
